Telemetry Research Applications: Pressure Ventricular

Traditional fluid filled catheters for the measurement of pressure via telemetry are:

  • Prone to movement artefacts and effects of gravity
  • Susceptible to clotting
  • Easily damaged or kinked
  • Utilize a gel in the tip that requires replacing before each use
  • Suffer from a relatively poor frequency response

Telemetry Research, in conjunction with Millar Instruments, has developed a fully implantable telemeter incorporating a novel micro-tip 2 Fr solid-state sensor.

This sensor is especially suited to the chronic measurement of LVP and RVP  in small animals

Surgical Approach in the rat for LVP:

  • Intubated and ventilated
  • Trans-diaphragm approach via a midline abdominal incision
  • Hole made in LV wall using 23G needle
  • Catheter tip inserted into the LV
  • Secured using tissue adhesive and/or suture
  • Telemeter body placed in the peritoneal cavity

Chose your model:

  • TRM54P   Pressure only
  • TRM54PB Pressure and Biopotential
  • TRM54PP Dual Pressure

TR offers accurate monitoring of Left and Right Ventricular Pressure LVP/RVP
